Darjeeling the “Queen of Hills” is a city and a Municipality in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is located in the lesser Himalayas at an elevation of 2,000 meter (6,560ft). Its population as per 2011 Census was 1,26935 with 63,828 males and 63,107 females. Darjeeling is famous for 3 Ts-Tea, Timber, Toy train Darjeeling Hill Railways, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The recorded history of the town starts from the early 19th century when the colonial administration under the British Raj set up a sanatorium and military depot in the region. The district comprises of 11 (eleven) Police Station and 01 Women Police Station & 1 Cyber Police Station. The headquarter of the district is Darjeeling town.The district is bounded on the north by Sikkim, south by Kishanganj Bihar state, south east by Panchgarh district of Bangladesh and on the east by Kalimpong and Jalpaiguri district and on the west by Nepal. With a majestic view of Mt Kanchenjunga it’s always worth to visit the city and enjoy the serene nature at its best.
